meet NATALIE
Natalie Williams Calhoun is a composer, cellist and creative force from Prince Edward Island, Canada, whose work blends emotional melodies with a deep respect for musical tradition. With a keen ear for texture and harmony, Natalie crafts compositions that evoke warmth, curiosity, and movement—whether in the realms of orchestral music, film scores, or combining musical genres into symphonic soundscapes.
Her professional career has taken her from performing as a chamber musician across the UK, to freelancing as a cellist with professional orchestras across Canada. More recently, she has become more active as a composer, orchestrator and arranger, working closely with the singer/songwriter community of Atlantic Canada to present their songs with orchestral backup. Natalie released her debut album, ‘act three’, on Monochrome Motif records in August 2022 and is working on a new album of orchestral cinematic music to be released soon.
When she's not composing, Natalie is deeply involved in the artistic community of PEI, nurturing young talent and encouraging the next generation of creators. Her passion for fostering creativity extends beyond the page, as she works to make music more accessible and inspiring for all.
I absolutely love working with Natalie. She understands the emotional nuance in arranging for and playing with songwriters. She's also a pro in the studio and well equipped to record remotely. She has written arrangements for orchestra, quartet and quintet for my songs and we have shared the stage many times. Natalie is a positive, intuitive and creative asset to have on any project or show.

I had the wonderful opportunity to perform with Natalie and members of the PEI Symphony Orchestra during a PEI Fall Flavours event. Prior to the show, Natalie sent me recordings of the arrangements she had charted so that I could get a sense of how my songs would feel layered with orchestral instruments. I was blown away. Her skill in charting music and playing cello is rivaled only by her hard work and preparation, thus making her beautiful compositions and performances a dream for any artist.
